There
has been a tremendous surge of interest in investing in Africa.
The continent remains significantly under-developed yet rich
in natural resources. Labour rates are low, economic growth
rates are high and with multi-party democracies increasingly
becoming the norm there is greater certainty around operational
and investment risk. In other words, much of Africa is joining
the emerging market investment fold.
We specialise in private equity investment into commercial
agriculture, food production and food processing in sub-Saharan
Africa. We aim to invest from the ground up, creating a vertically
integrated business that combines actual food production with
food processing. We have developed a farmland bank of over
2,000 hectares of arable land and an outgrower scheme covering
over 5000 hectares.
We are also keen to work against poverty and hunger
in the areas we operate and this is a fundamental part
of our approach.
We successfully raised $16.5 million in Q1 2008, through
the Africa Invest Capital Protected Plan and the Africa
Invest Fund.
